Turner Valley Gas Plant National and Provincial Historic Site
The Turner Valley Gas Plant has the largest collection of in-situ artifacts left from the glory days of the oilfield. The plant played a central role in the development of the oil and gas industry in Alberta, and saw many of the industry’s significant technological innovations.
From May 15 until Labour Day in September, interpreters guide visitors through the historic gas processing plant. From the site of the discovery well to the impressive lines of machinery, vessels and process pipelines, the guided tours explain how this resource was converted into marketable products. Other stories link the gas plant to nearby communities.
